About Me

My name is Jason Leveille. In 2007 I ended my 8 year career as a High School CS teacher to became a full-time web developer. I built this site in order to share my back and front-end development experience.

Experience

My first love in this field (6+ years ago) was CSS and Web standards. Over the years I've also developed my programming skillset, which now includes PHP, Python, and JavaScript. As I've mentioned, I built this site in order to have a good reason to learn Pylons and Python. In case it matters, I have a Masters Degree in Computer Science.

I have experience with (among other things):

  • Languages: PHP , Python, C#, JavaScript
  • Databases: MySQL, PostreSQL, SQL Server, SQLite
  • Platforms: Windows, Linux/Unix (Solaris, Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, etc)
  • Servers: IIS , Apache, lighttpd, nginx
  • Frameworks: CakePHP, Pylons, Django
  • CMS : Plone, Wordpress, Movable Type, ExpressionEngine

I have solid experience with standards based web development and best practices. This includes strong experience with HTTP , HTML , CSS , and issues in accessibility.

It is my belief that the most crucial aspect of this job is the ability to make good decisions. Every problem I am tasked to solve is unique in some way, and proper decisions can yield great gains over time. With my insatiable appetite for learning, this is something I am getting better at on a daily basis.
