I want to learn more about web programming in Python. I've done it before, but the world keeps changing, and in the meantime I've been working with Scheme, Ruby, Smalltalk, Clojure...

I am a Python fan! After 5-6 of years of Java development, I was thankfully enlighted with the Python world...
I selected Django as the best web framework to start our Intranet development. I am still new in the field, but even DjangoAdmin alone makes miracles...
Long live Open Source!

I have started a website development work for a local community and was doing it in django. It's really the framework to go for, and the best part are the available pluggables... all u need to do is to give them the CSS/Styling or in short your own templates.

Making website is more fun with django :)

I'm very interested in learning more about Django, although I'm developing under Python 2.3, which is probably not an ideal environment

I'm a Python user for quite a long time so I decided to create a web page using some Python environment.
After some research I decided to create a provided website (syndeenation) with Turbogears.
Since I need to create a better site I spoke with some users in Slovenia and found out that Django is used more, so I checked it.
It scratches itches I have with Turbogears so I decided to use it from now on.

I found your comment in django forums too. I'm also interested in the django book, since thats what im learning now. I've learned alot in last months, because i have few nice ideas for some websites. I've learned html, css, js and now django because i have heard many good things about it.

So far i've managed to accomplish everything with the help of django forums. I think the book would be good way to gain extra knowledge and more insight than official documentation offers.

Hey Jason! Nice idea about share theses books with people interested!

My interest with python goes in 2 different directions: the first one is that I'm a game developer and I really love work with python and opengl (pyopengl) and pygame to test things. I love python because I really can create softwares extensions and others this. the second direction is regarding my job, there I work with python for web.

As I'm new I'm python for web I've been studying and reading blogs/tutorials about the incredible framework called django. And as much as I improve in django I really think that in the future this will help me to work managing games with django (as I've being seeing in blogs that already have theses kind of API's).

So... this is the why I love python and I'm interested in Django.

I am really interested in getting deeper into django. Thanks Jason for your generous giveaway.

P.S. Is plone something that I can use with a django app? Will it help further my site if I am trying to develop a django project?

TIA,
Richard

Comment 23 Jason Leveille - Gravatar Jason Leveille

@Richard, Plone is a CMS built on top of Zope and Python. Though I'm sure applications can (and have) been written which allow the two to communicate, you can think of them as distinct and different.

I've clarified above, but want to clarify again. I am giving away 2 PDF books. Next week I will be contacting 2 people to give the books to. The only prerequisite for consideration is leaving a comment on this site. I'm a little nervous that folks might think I'm giving away a book to everyone that leaves a comment, which is most definitely not the case.

I am a python fan though I have not had many positive Plone interactions to date. I know a lot of people out there are passionate about Plone, so I am hoping by reading the book I can better understand the positive attributes.
